Christmas Hat

The Christmas Hat is worked in the round from the bottom up on circular needles and double pointed needles (or using the magic loop technique with a longer cable circular needle) towards the point. A casing is made along the lower edge, with a wide elastic on the inside, which insures a good fit regardless of the size of the child’s head. Lastly, a small tassel is built and then sewn on the point of the hat.

Sizes: Small (large). Fits head circumference smaller (larger) than 50 cm.

Gauge: 23 sts x 31 rounds = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] in stockinette st

Suggested needles: Circular needles: 3,5 mm [US 4] (40 cm [16 inches]); Double-pointed needles: 3,5 mm [US 4]

Materials: 100 (100) g Pernilla from Filcolana (50 g = 175 m [188 yds]) or Alpakka from Sandnes Garn (50 g = 110 m [120 yds]), approximately 0,5 m [20 inches] of elastic band (2 cm [¾ inch] wide), darning needle
