Emmy Top Junior
The Emmy Top Junior is worked from the bottom up. The body is worked in the round in stockinette stitch, and the work is then divided into the front and back yoke which are worked separately, back and forth in stockinette stitch with decreases along both sides. At the top of the front, the outermost stitches are folded to the back, and straps are worked in double knitting. The straps are grafted onto the back with Kitchener stitch.
The Emmy Top Junior can be worked in one solid color or in 4 rows/rounds wide stripes.
Knit a swatch to determine which needle size gives you the correct gauge. Make sure to wash your swatch before taking the gauge measurements, as the recommended yarns might grow with wash and wear. Note that the size of the top will increase by a couple of cm [an inch or so] with wear after wash and blocking – keep this in mind when choosing which size to knit.

The Emmy Top Junior is designed to have zero ease. The sizes 1-2 (2-3) 3-4 (4-5) 5-6 (6-7) 7-8 (8-9) 9-10 (10-12) years are designed to fit a bust circumference of 53 (54) 56 (57) 59 (62) 64 (68) 72 (75) cm [20¾ (21¼) 22 (22½) 23¼ (24½) 25¼ (26¾) 28¼ (29½) inches]. The measurements for the finished garment are listed on the front page of the pattern (please note that these measurements are only achieved if the top is knitted in the correct gauge). If you/the recipient measures 57 cm [22½ inches] around the chest, you should knit a size 4-5 years. Size 4-5 years has a chest circumference of 57 cm [22½ inches] which will, in this example, give zero ease. If the measured chest circumference deviates from the age guide, you can adjust the lengths to the person you’re knitting for. The same applies if the child is short/taller than average.
